Intentional,
sober events
in Birmingham UK

Slow Socials are a sober/alcohol free, facilitated gathering designed to help you make meaningful connections in a way that feels intentional, supported, and accessible. Think speed dating, but slower, and focused on friendship, community, and connection.

Instead of navigating a room full of strangers, we move through a series of structured conversations based on prompts. Some questions are all about reflection, others are light-hearted, but they're all designed to skip the small talk!

The format is as a bit like speed dating, but it’s for friendship, community and genuine human connection. Some events focus just on making connections and others include activities, workshops or other lovely things to explore alongside our chats.

If you’re new to this space, Slow Socials are hosted by me, Laura! I’m a counsellor and therapist, a space holder and my work brings together psychotherapy, embodied practices, meaningful connection, and nature-based experiences. All of the spaces I offer are neuro-affirming, identity affirming and trauma informed. You can explore my FAQs to find out a bit more about me, my other work, and my values.

September’s Social will take place at The Cloak and Dagger, Stirchley. This is a sober/alcohol free event. Tea, coffee and water will be provided and you’re welcome to bring your own soft drinks and snacks.

Accessibility: the venue is wheelchair accessible, with everything on one level. We’ll have ambient music playing at a low volume and low overhead lighting and the levels of both of these can be adjusted.
You’ll also receive an email before the event asking about any accessibility needs that you’d like us to know about.
