I’m Laura (she / her)
Thank you for being here, where I’m sharing everything you need to know about my counselling, therapy and trauma work, Birmingham, UK.
As well as in person therapy, I offer: online therapy, you can find more details online therapy, nature-based therapy and psycho-spiritual therapy
My own therapy journey started as a client. Exploring my challenges in safe and affirming spaces has helped me to live a more connected life. I’ve also had experiences with mental health support that didn’t feel so safely held, so it’s important to me that the space I offer is underpinned by trauma-informed-practice and holistic psychotherapy approaches that work with the mind, body and the whole self.
The types of therapy I integrate into my work include psychodynamic approaches, humanistic approaches and somatic trauma work, alongside neuroscience based approaches.
I believe in the the practical aspects of therapy and building tools and resources that you can use outside of the therapy room. This includes supporting you to connect with, and process, what might be happening in your body and nervous system, as well as exploring your experiences through talk therapy approaches.
While I’ll happily work with anyone who feels drawn to my approach, I specialise in supporting neurodivergent clients. Being AuDHD myself means that I bring lived experience of navigating the world through a neurodivergent lens.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, disability affirming, neurodiversity affirming, anti-racist and fat-positive.
If you’re wondering whether I am the right fit for you, this post shares more details about my approach as a therapist.
“After multiple attempts of therapy, Laura is the first person who has made me feel seen, understood, and valued. She shows real humanity and compassion, bringing a wealth of knowledge and skills yet without pushing an agenda. I have been supported by her through some life-changing epiphanies as well as some challenging lows. She is particularly capable with helping to manage triggers and overwhelming feelings which means it feels finally safe to talk to her about some of the heavier things I’ve been carrying. As someone who has worked in mental health for around 8 years myself, I can say that I wholeheartedly believe the mental health system would be better off if we had more Lauras in them”
